Fr Gary Waddington has been Team Rector of the Parish of St Wilfrid’s Harrogate since 2010. He was previously Vicar of Paulsgrove, an urban priority area parish on the northern edge of the City of Portsmouth for 10 years, and Succentor at Portsmouth Cathedral. He served his curacy in the parish of Holy Spirit Southsea, after training for the priesthood at St Stephen’s House Oxford.
Having grown up in Skipton, North Yorkshire, he went to St Chad’s College Durham after leaving school, and then spent two years as a pastoral assistant in the parish of Gospel Oak, London.
Gary was for ten years a member of the Church of England’s Liturgical Commission; is a former co-chair of a national Fresh Expressions group; has previously sat on a Diocesan Advisory Committee and a Cathedral Fabric Committee as well as deanery and diocesan synods in the Dioceses of Portsmouth and now Leeds. He is a member of the General Synod of the Church of England. He does some other stuff too.
